SOFTIES PROJECT
One of the primary challenges faced by vulnerable families is generating income. The families we assist often lack land, have limited education—typically only Grade 4—and possess few skills. They rely on demanding labor jobs that are physically taxing, making life difficult, especially when work is scarce.Our initiative aims to empower with women by teaching them sewing skills to create a variety of soft toys, clothing and other git items to enable them to supplement their income. We began three women, none of whom had prior experience, and all were struggling to provide for their children.
What We Do
Today, HUSK has expanded to a of seven women who support their families by working full-time to produce not only soft toys but also other items like laundry bags, coasters, and simple clothing. These women now have a source of income to meet their basic needs.
